Life drawing... Again!

More life drawing.... Struggling with tones. I take way too long to get them down, gotta work on that speed!

Life drawing

I haven't been doing much personal work recently but I have been doing a lot of consistent life drawing while here in Melbourne.

Here is the tip of the iceberg! More to come. I have omitted the ones I hate and left the ones I was happy with at the time but am beginning to hate ;)

More coming soon!

Big red rocks

Inspired somewhat by my sister's photos of central Australia.

A quick composition/colour practice. Two things I REALLY need to work on! Spent about half an hour on this, I should really make this part of my daily routine.

Vikings and baseball

Did Vikings wear hats with horns? NO.

Did Vikings wield their sword like it was a baseball bat? Probably not.

Anyway, still flushing out the bad stuff. Need to practice legs more!

Crazy Scotsman / Cleaning out the pipes

You know when you turn a tap on that hasn't run in a while, all the brown gunk comes out first before the clean water?

Well, these sketches are the gunk. Not in love with this drawing but there are things I like about it... trying to develop my style, push things here and there and make my digital work look less digital.

Sketch / Masters of Anatomy

Hello!

So, it's been a busy few months and I still have freelance work to wrap up not to mention drawing my submission for Masters of Anatomy.

But, I am aiming to slow down a bit so I can explore more of Melbourne and concentrate on making new art for myself. I have a few personal projects in the works which never get anywhere because I'm always too busy freelancing... time to change that!

So here is a sketch. I'm outta practice. I want to make a habit of drawing daily again, lets see how that goes.

In other news, the Masters of Anatomy kickstarter has been live for a few weeks now - I meant to post about it earlier (oops) but like I said, I've been busy. Nevermind though, the kickstarter has already been funded which is awesome and the list of artists continues to grow!

So if you haven't checked it out already, please do!

 Until next time,

Train doodling

Heyyyyyyyyy. How's it going?

So a few months back, I bought a Surface Pro. I have been wanting a tablet I could draw on for ages and I finally discovered this. Only just getting around to using it now though on the commute to work! Here is, pretty much my first doodle on the Surface. It's an awesome device, it actually runs a full version of Windows 8, which means I can run photoshop, flash and any other program on it. Also, the pen and screen are pressure sensitive, so painting is awesome. Well. It might be, once I get the hang of it.

I got a huge backlog of life drawing to post here... so expect some soon.

Masters of Anatomy

Hello!

I haven't been very active on my blog recently. I just finished a huge freelance gig which involved long hours for the past month and a bit! Once it's out there I will be sure to share it with you all.

I have a ton of life drawing that I have managed to squeeze in. Once I get some time I will sort it out and post it up :D

In the mean time - I have some awesome news!

I've been asked to take part in a kick starter project to create an artists reference book called :

The idea is pretty cool, 63 different artists are involved, all drawing the same poses in their own unique style.

It will feature Pascal Campion, Loish, Dave Malan, Rob Laro, Ivan Oviedo, Kevin Keele, Tori Davis - these are just some of the amazing artists involved. They are an inspiration to me and it is an honour to be sharing pages of the book with them. I don't know why I'm in there to be honest, but I'm not complaining! WHOA!

So, please take a look at the website! The kickstarter goes live on Friday the 11th of October and should run for 30 - 45 days. If you think you would like to see this book in print and would want to own a copy, please consider donating to fund. I know I will be.

And if you can't donate, do please tell people who might be interested. I want to see this book happen! So please spread the word. It would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance. I'll post some new art soon, plus updates on the book.
